Pianosmiths Piano Tuner Training

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new "Pianosmiths Piano Tuner Training" in collaboration with Stokes of London Limited, commencing in Spring 2026. This program is designed to offer high-quality tuition and mentoring, giving students the right information and guidance for improvement and self-learning in the trade.

Recognising students begin their tuning journey from various backgrounds, including recent school leavers and those retraining from pre-existing careers.

Our teachings are tailored to the individual, initial topics include:
- Tuning stability
- Tuning of clean unisons

- Tuning intervals
- Fine Tuning
- Pitch corrections
- Introduction and understanding of the mechanics of a piano action

We are delighted to highlight potential opportunities for our trainees. In addition to one-to-one training, participants will have the opportunity to assist at institutions such as the Yehudi Menuhin School and other academic institutions. Here, they will learn to maintain a diverse range of instruments in an academic setting, from traditional English instruments to prestigious brands from Italy, Germany and Japan.

To further support our trainees' progression, our partners at ProPTN in the US have generously offered a two-year free subscription to their comprehensive knowledge-based app, which provides invaluable instructional content for technicians globally.

With an invitation to work with a leading restoration specialist, qualifying trainees can gain insight into their workshop, providing a glimpse into the restoration side of the profession.

To help ensure your success, a one-day brand development workshop is offered with our branding expert, Emma from Studio Simple. During this session, Emma will introduce you to key branding strategies designed to help you build your own identity, services, and website for those starting out.
